Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC's Moore's questline is one of the most tricky ones in the game, as it requires players to make some crucial decisions. The choices players make during this quest can have far-reaching consequences, so it is pivotal that players are well aware of what each decision leads to before taking any decision.
Unlike the base game, players meet most of the crucial NPCs extremely early on in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. These NPCs have their own questlines which grant players items that cannot be obtained if players choose the wrong option. Here is the entire Moore questline in the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, explained.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – What To Do First
Though Shadow of the Erdtree is pretty vast and open-ended, players should prioritize these things first in the Elden Ring DLC.
Where To Find Moore In Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
Moore can be found right after players enter the Land of Shadows. He is located right outside Belurat, Tower Settlement, which is in the northwestern part of the map. For players who have already beaten Divine Beast Dancing Lion, they must have already passed by Moore. Moore is located near the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace. After interacting with Moore and completing the dialogues, players should head to Thiollier. It is crucial to note that while breaking Miquella's charm doesn't affect this quest, the dialogue options that unlock thereafter can affect this, as well as Thiollier's quest.
So the first thing players should do after interacting with Moore is look for Thiollier. Thiollier is found near the Pillar Path Cross Site of Grace, and once players have interacted with him, they can head back to Moore to get the Black Syrup. This item is required for progressing in Thiollier's questline. Once players have the Black Syrup and the Forager Brood Cookbooks, they are free to choose any dialogue option for Moore.
How To Find Forager Brood Cookbooks & Pests
There are a total of seven Forager Brood Cookbooks that can be found across the Land of Shadows. Six of them are given by Forager Brood pests, while the last one is given by Moore himself. Out of the 6 Forager Brood pests, the fourth one, which is found near the Church of Crusade, is a special one as players can't get the Cookbook by simply interacting with it. Instead, players need to use a Warming Stone or Sunwarmth Stone to wake it up, and then come back after resting at a Site of Grace to get the Cookbook. That's not all, the seventh Forager Brood Cookbook is also obtained indirectly via it. Once players have got the fourth Forager Brood Cookbook, they can simply go back and speak with Moore to get the seventh one.
Additionally, it is crucial to note that if players attack these pests, they will get invaded by Moore. They have two options here, to either kill Moore or spare his life. If players run away or die, then nothing will happen. If they kill Moore, then players will get Moore's Bell Bearing, Verdigris Greatshield, and Verdigris Set, and the quest will end here. Additionally, Moore will not feature in the Leda and allies boss fight.
Item Rewarded | How To Find | Map Location |
---|---|---|
Forager Brood Cookbook (1) | Head northwest from the Ruined Forge of Starfall Site of Grace. | |
Forager Brood Cookbook (2) | Head southeast from the Cliffroad Terminus Site of Grace. | |
Forager Brood Cookbook (3) | Head northeast from the Cerulean Coast Site of Grace. | |
Forager Brood Cookbook (4) | Near the Church of Crusade. This pest can only be woken up with a Warming Stone or Sunwarmth Stone. | |
Forager Brood Cookbook (5) | Head northeast from the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, across the cave. | |
Forager Brood Cookbook (6) | Head west from the Church District Highroad Site of Grace, to find the pest on the wall of the Shadow Keep. | |
Forager Brood Cookbook (7) | Obtained from Moore after getting Forager Brood Cookbook (4) | Moore's original location, the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace. |
Which Dialogue Option Should You Choose For Moore?
After the first interaction, players will be able to unlock new dialogue options after breaking Miquella's charm. All one needs to do is simply head to the Shadow Keep and that will be automatically done. Upon returning to Moore, he will give three options to players and they will need to choose one. It is crucial to note that players should avoid deciding anything and simply choose "I don't know" until they have all the items mentioned above. Then, they can make their decision. It is recommended that players use the "Remain sad forever", as it prevents Moore from joining Leda and her allies. If players choose "Put it Behind You", then the Leda and her allies' boss battle becomes extremely difficult, considering Moore is quite difficult to beat because of his tanky armor.
Dialogue Option | Consequence |
---|---|
Put it behind you | You will be able to fight Moore at Enir Ilim along with Leda and her allies. Verdigris Set will be available after defeating all of Leda and her allies. Also, players will not be able to get the Forager Brood Cookbooks or Black Syrup if they choose this. |
Remain sad forever | Moore will die automatically and his body will be found near the Church of Crusade, where players can loot the Verdigris Set. This choice will also prevent the users from getting the Forager Brood Cookbooks or Black Syrup. |
I don't know | No decision is made and players can return at a later point and choose any of the three options once again. |
